What is a Thread ledger?
Every property on Afó has a Thread — a live, append-only activity log. Every join, proposal, inspection, and deal closure is recorded with a timestamp. No one can edit or delete entries. The full history is visible to everyone, before you even create an account.
Is my identity protected when I join a Thread?
Yes. Other tenants in a Thread cannot see who else has joined. The ledger shows aggregate counts ("14 interested, 3 inspected") but never names or contact details. Your identity is only revealed to the law firm during the final deal-closing stage, for legal verification purposes.
How does the law firm integration work?
When both tenant and landlord confirm intent inside the Thread, Afó automatically generates a structured brief — property details, both parties' information, and agreed terms — and sends it to our verified partner law firm. The firm then handles identity verification, agreement drafting, escrow holding, and physical key handover.
What happens to my rent money during the process?
Rent and caution deposit are paid via Paystack and held in escrow until the law firm confirms that keys have been handed over. The funds never pass through an agent's account. Only after successful key handover does the landlord receive payment, minus the 2% Afó service fee.
Can I cancel my subscription?
Yes — cancel any time directly from your profile. You retain access until the end of your billing month. If you're mid-Thread on a deal, we won't cut you off mid-process; just reach out to support.
Is this only for Abuja?
We're launching in Abuja first — to prove the model, secure law firm partnerships, and build trust with a focused community. Lagos, Port Harcourt, and Kano are planned as city expansions in Q3 2026. If you want to bring Afó to your city, get in touch.
